bio
Colombian architect with ten years of experience in the architectural design, technical coordination and supervision on-site of building projects including single housing, collective housing, hotel and mixed-use.
Advocating for precision, innovation, efficiency and effectiveness within the design and construction processes at different scales (from urban plan to building detail), my goals and professional achievements prioritize the balance among the programmatic, technical and aesthetical relationships of each project.
Always working as a team-member, I consider the architectural practice as a continuous learning – negotiation process where knowledge and skills must have a social and sustainable commitments.
what does architecture do?
how and why?
Architecture asks questions; architecture solves problems, architecture makes proposals. The approach seized within this practice is openly speculative and responds to the question “what should architecture do in this place?”. It is assumed that architecture belongs to a location, it co-responds to specific circumstances regarding a site. Context, territory, environment, are interpretations of the landscape, realizations of the city, its history, regulations and urban / rural shape (morphology / typology).
Instead of conceiving architecture as an isolated opera, a matter of individuals, an object to praise, a piece to copy or a pretext to make money, here it is valuated as a conjunct of relationships not only spatial but also technical, geometrical, social, political, artistical and economic. Architecture is deeply embedded within this continuum of cultural links being a collective procedure explicitly temporal and materic.
The path used to solve the questions about architecture is based on the study of architecture itself: finding similarities between conditions and evaluating possible answers to them. There is not only one possible answer……. nor “anything” could be. A “generic” but not impartial response is the one elaborated in this projects. The references are taken from other cities, buildings and archetypes.
