Casa La Scala Readequation

The project is an updating of a house designed by Vittoriano Vigano in 1958. Located in a mountain on the border of Lago di Garda, it was originally designed as an artist residence and workshop. Nevertheless, due multiple variations during the design process, its final resolution belongs to a second house used for holidays and vacations.
The understanding of the built design, its purpose, materiality, but also its functionality, lead us to an improvement of its program components: internal connection between ground floor and basement, relocation of the kitchen, inclusion of an emergency bathroom and utility room, seizing of the master bedroom, inclusion of master bedroom’s bathroom, basement enlargement to hold a guests dormitory and a playground space, and the inclusion of a swimming pool in the border of the basement terrace.
Addition and displacement of few walls, aperture of some skylights and other small interventions, avoiding big structural modifications, are procedures that arrange the complementary functions without betraying the original disposition of internal spaces.
